When we knew we were going to move back to Canada, I started feeling very claustrophobic in the house and area where we lived. Houses in Auckland, New Zealand are built very close to each other. They've done something called 'in-fill building' where people will divide their lot and build another house on it, so the houses are super close! So close that we could hear the neighbour using the washroom, or hear the neighbour children running in their house like it was in our house. From our home we could only see other houses and fences.
Don't get me wrong, we had a beautiful back yard garden with native plants and birds. It was a very peaceful oasis, but as the time drew near for us to leave, and I was back from our Christmas trip to Canada where I was reminded of the wide open views, vast prairies and never-ending skies, I began to yearn to 'just see the sky'. So I began to pray, 'Lord please give us a home where I can see'.
When we left Peachland I had prayed, 'Lord please let us still be near water', since I had loved living so close to the Okanagan Lake and spent many hours walking beside it and enjoying it's beauty. So.... God sent us to an island where we were surrounded by water! Lol! Yay God! For our next move I didn't feel like I could pray to be near water again (silly me - since when do we limit God or 'give him an out'), so this time I prayed for a view from our home. And..... God blessed us above and beyond, with a gorgeous view of the rolling foothills AND a sneaky corner view of the Rockies from our deck and front step AND....... wait for it...... WATER!! Lol - now it's not exactly the Okanagan Lake or the Pacific Ocean or Tasman Sea, but it IS water, albeit a little storm pond, but the birds come there and trees and clouds are reflected off its glassy surface, AND it's in our backyard!!!!
So, once again, God has been so faithful and answered my prayers above and beyond what I could have imagined. This morning I was reminded again of His unfailing faithfulness in our lives with this spectacular sunrise that I can see from my living/dining room and deck. I was in awe and just had to share it!
There are three screenshots from the video and the full video below.... enjoy God's artwork! :D
