So one of the most unexpected things about moving here has become one of my favorite highlights about living here. I LOVE how we have become a bit of a 'stopping point' for people who know people who know us. lol. About a month ago Kevin's cousin's wife from Canada emailed me that her friend's daughter was coming here to go to bible school, and wondered if she could connect us so that I could answer any questions they may have. Fast forward one month and here they are! I got to meet them at the airport (which in itself was a fun challenge as we didn't know what each other looked like and the airport was PACKED with 4 huge international flights arriving at the same time). Then I took them to our house, unloaded their luggage, and began the '24 hour Cheryl express sightseeing tour'! lol.
We went out to Muriwai, because it's currently my favorite place to go. The weather looked miserable but we persevered and actually were able to have a picnic of fish and chips overlooking the coastline, followed by a walk to view the gannets and a hike down the hill to enjoy the caves at low tide. Then we headed back to catch a movie at Hoyts (where they'd been told they must go in order to have a deluxe movie experience). Then after a short, much needed sleep, we headed out in the morning to do some quick shopping for things Rochelle would need at school, followed by a drive through the city to see the sights, and then up Mount Eden to take in the spectacular 360 degree views (and to be on top of a volcano), ending with a drive through beautiful Cornwall Park and a visit to see the monument on One Tree Hill! phew! We had such a wonderful day! I hope we get to see each other again someday, but if not, it was just so fun to be able to show them around 'our town' and get to make two new friends!
Now....who's next?!?! :o)
