I wish I'd had my camera

I wish I had my camera the other day.

I was driving down a very busy Auckland road on a Friday afternoon going to pick up Monica. As me and the other hundreds of Friday afternoon drivers joined the mass traffic rush filling all 4 lanes, I glanced over to the sidewalk. There standing in the middle of the sidewalk, nowhere in particular, were two little Islander girls. They were standing there playing a hand game together.

It made me 'stop' in my mind and wonder what would cause those two little girls to just stop in the middle of the sidewalk beside an incredibly busy road, and just play a hand game. It made me want to be young and carefree and spontaneous again. To just stop, and play, without a concern for where I should be going or what I should be doing.

It was incredibly refreshing to see. The dichotomy of their carefree play, and the adult rush going on all around them was definitely thought-provoking.

I just wish I'd had my camera to take a picture of it.

......although I guess I would have probably caused an accident if I'd stopped to do that.......

That is something sweet to experience. LIke you say. How wonderful that they felt okay to just do that. To enjoy their freedom and childhood

I like the idea of stopping to play. How sad that, as adults, we basically schedule our play times!!
