Seasons

Canadian Seasons New Zealand Seasons

You don't realize how much seasons govern your life and thinking until they are completely reversed or removed. Moving from the northern hemisphere to the southern hemisphere has really messed with my internal seasonal clock!
My daughters' September birthdays are rapidly approaching. They were born in fall, in Canada. So leading up to their birthdays was: the end of summer, long, warm August days, getting ready for a new school year, the beginning of school, and then getting ready for birthdays. Now it's just all confusing! I keep forgetting that their birthdays are soon and that I need to figure out gifts and celebration activities! It's the end of winter here. It's been raining a lot. The days are short. We're in the middle of the school year. The girls are writing exams. It's just all wrong and messes with my mind!
This phenomena happens frequently to me for many occasions. Mother's Day (should be in spring, not fall!), Father's Day, family members' birthdays, Christmas, our anniversary, and on and on..... I wonder how long it takes to re-program one's brain and accept Christmas in mid-summer, our summer wedding anniversary in mid-winter, my kids' birthdays in early Spring.... hmmmmmm.
I'm so confused!!!

Love the pictures! Great work on them! I can totally understand how a season reversal would throw off all your 'normal' reminder signals. How do you get ready for a new school year after Christmas? Why would your anniversary be in the winter? I guess it gives you the opportunity to create new memories and do completely different things to celebrate those special days!!
