So when we were in Canada, my brother's friend lent him a couple seasons of Corner Gas to watch. I watched a couple episodes with Bruce and thought it was a pretty good show. When we got to Calgary, Kevin's mom gave him some cash, so I thought I'd buy him season 1 & 2 as a gift from her, hoping he'd enjoy them. Well, to say the least, we are all completely addicted, to the point that Kevin went online and ordered seasons 3&4 and had them shipped to NZ!!!
I think the show is made even more special to us, in that we both grew up in small prairie towns in Canada. Being in NZ, so far from all things Canadian, we get such a nostalgic feeling watching these shows! The characters, the story lines, the terrain and even the groceries in the background in the gas station make us feel a bit closer to 'home'. (And even the opening CTV logo and music bring back memories.)..... it's a very funny thing!
So thanks, Gord and Bruce for introducing our family to some awesome Canadian television that we are watching over and over and over again! Go Dog River!
