a wedding, a parade and a school celebration

Kevin had the honor of performing his first marriage ceremony this past weekend. It was beautiful!

Also on the weekend we attended the Howick Santa Parade. It is so very strange to be doing Christmas stuff alongside summer stuff! There are hanging baskets on the light poles in Howick, just below the Christmas decorations. It's really messing with our minds! lol. These are two pics of the parade. A kiwi on a bike and the crowd of 30,000+.

Also going on around here are the end of the school year celebrations. My school had their big celebration night last week. It was so awesome. I loved it! The evening began with a picnic on the school fields and then the children put on class productions on the outdoor stage. It was so different from anything we're used to doing in Canada, especially at this time of year. Here is a pic of our school fields, taken from the staffroom balcony.

Coming up next is a visit from a good friend of ours from back in Canada. He arrives on the direct overnight flight from Vancouver, Friday morning. How nice to get on the plane in Vancouver Wednesday night and arrive here Friday morning, and totally miss Thursday! lol.

It's so strange to see Christmas pictures with such weather!! I can't conprehend that it is the same time of year there as here!! It is snowing right now and we may get 5 cm. of snow. I look at your pictures and think of doing an outdoor school production?... It just doesn't compute!! :D
