a bit of this and a bit of that

Well, probably the biggest change around here lately has been the addition of 3 6-week old kittens that we are fostering through the SPCA for 3 weeks, at the initiative of MacKenzie, our animal enthusiast! The girls have named the kittens, Chomp, Prince Charming and Indiana. Somehow they are able to tell them all apart! They sure are cute and love getting into mischief! MacKenzie does an amazing job taking care of the kittens. She's been hand-feeding one who was a bit smaller than the rest.

The other thing happening around here is that the school year is wrapping up and we're looking ahead to Christmas/Summer holidays! Christmas in summer. Can't wait to experience that!
Paige has won an award for 2nd highest in Media Studies in the Senior classes of the school. It's quite the honor and tonight we go to the 3+ hour awards ceremony to watch her walk across the stage. She is also involved in 2 recreation soccer teams and really enjoying it. She has also had her third injury since being here; this time a broken pinky finger from playing volleyball. Paige was recently in a school play as the messenger of bad news. That's her taking her bow, wearing the white dress.

Danae has finished two huge project boards. One for her art class (a design project) and one for her photography class (themed project). Here is her photography board. Her theme was 'flowers throughout a woman's life'. She is a very gifted photographer! She is also on the cusp of getting her job at Starbucks! She had her 2nd interview yesterday and the manager was most impressed and said that she just had to confirm it with a co-manager but it looked positive! She is very excited about this!

In other news, yesterday was Guy Fawkes day, which is new to us Canadians. Kevin went out and bought some fireworks. He was like a kid in a candy store, he was so excited! We've lit a few off and are saving a few for the arrival of Kyle, our friend who is coming in a few weeks, and also a few for Christmas and New Year's.
That's about it. There's been a bit of homesickness lately, but then God just does something special and brightens our spirits again! He is such a good God and I am so thankful to be a Christ-follower! Every day is an adventure with Jesus.

Awwwww....the kittens are so cute!! How fun for Kenz! It seems like your family keeps making waves in big and small ways - very cool.

It seems so odd to comment on your Tuesday post when it's still Monday here!

it's a long time since I commented on your blog. I am glad you keep up with it even if the rest of us are slackers. So good to hear what the girls are doing. Each one is so special and we miss them. We usually made the trip to Peachland in Oct. but not this year. We went to Cold Lake instead.

nice bloggs, yes we had a great time and miss you guys lots. Have spoken to several people who love to read your entries but when it comes to commenting back they get confused as to how to do this, therfore they contuinue to read these as newspaper items which one doesn't normally respond to. Your readership may not be as technologically skilled as we think. Most of us need the "dots" very closley connected. Lov you gus , Mom & dad
