a few days away

Once mom and dad had decided they were coming to visit us, they said that they wanted to go to Steve Irwin's Australian Zoo in Brisbane. They figured if they were going to be in this part of the world they wanted to make sure to take in the zoo. So on Monday we caught an early flight to Brisbane (barely making it to the plane, as the crowds in the airport were unbelievable!)

We stayed at another Alliance pastor's home and had a wonderful visit with him. We were so thankful for his hospitality. We flew home on Friday very early in the morning. So we had 3 full days in the area. We didn't really know what else to go see besides the zoo, as we really don't know much about the area. We asked people for ideas and were inundated with 100's! Too overwhelming. So we drove 45 minutes from where we were staying and went to the Gold Coast. We'd never even heard of the Gold Coast before, but WOW, was it INCREDIBLE!!!! Beautiful sandy beaches, blue blue sky, torquise water. Ah.....gorgeous! The area is growing so fast. 1500 people moving into the area per week! The construction is phenomenal. Apparently there is about 15 BILLION dollars of infrastructure going on right now.

So we had one day at the zoo and two days on the beach and in the area looking around. It was really a fun few days!

Now we're back home doing laundry, getting ready for our thanksgiving dinner tomorrow. We're having Matt over and the two girls we've recently met from Canada. There will be no turkey or pumpkin pie, though. :0( so sad. Turkey costs about $50-$75 each and there is no pumpkin! So we're having a couple of chickens....lol....and Oreo cake! haha..... we are just so thankful to be here, we are thankful that mom and dad can be here to spend this time with us, we are thankful for our friends and supporters back home, for your prayers, financial support and words of encouragement! There's just a lot to be thankful for!

God is so good!!!!

We just had turkey dinner for our grade ones and the turkey was crazy expensive - $110 for two turkeys!! Thankfully there was a sale... One of the things we are thankful for is that your mom and dad are there to spend thanksgiving with you. :) Sounds like your trip had some great highlights!
