Happy Birthday Kiwi Style!

Yesterday (today if you're reading this in the northern hemisphere) was Paige, Danae and MacKenzie's birthdays! P&D turned 17, and M turned 15. P&D are in the middle of exams and luckily had the day off. Paige and her friend took the ferry into the city during the day to go shopping and in the evening some of her other friends took her to a movie. Danae dropped me off at work (with her newly acquired license!) and then went to her friend's house where there was a group of her friends who had a little party for her. In the evening, Danae's boyfriend (I know, a drivers' license and a boyfriend! you'd think they're growing up or something) came over to watch a movie. MacKenzie had to go to school, because she's a 'junior' and they don't have the same exams. Her friends at school showered her with gifts so she came home quite happy. In the evening her and I watched a movie together (as Kevin was off driving Paige & co) So it was a great day.
To make it even more special, one of my new friends from work, came by with gifts for all the girls! (see picture) They moved here from South Africa 4 years ago and she remembers how hard the transition was for her family and she just wanted to do something special for our girls. It just blessed me to the depths of my soul! :-) Another surprise visit came from two young people in our church who have become great friends to our girls. They came bearing gifts as well. (group hug picture)

They also received a wonderful morning phone call from grandparents in Canada and many happy birthday greetings on their facebook pages and cell phone texts from Canadian and NZ friends. I would have to say that the first birthday in NZ was wonderfully blessed! The girls all felt loved and what more can you ask for, eh? (and when my parents arrive next week, we'll get to do the birthdays all over again! yay!)

So glad to hear that the day went so well!! Even thought we weren't a part of the celebrations, just hearing about it - after having been there - makes us feel so much closer! Praise God for such a great day!
Happy happy birthday to them
