Blue Mountains: Day 2

Got up early (the 2 hour time change worked in our favor for getting up early and getting on with our day!) Drove along the cliff ridge and had another look from a different viewpoint. Still amazing!

The wind at the edge of the viewpoints was amazing! We saw the Australian army guys out rock climbing this morning. They use the cliffs for training. They are in that pic somewhere, but they're just little specs!

We went to Scenic World which is an area that's been set up in the Blue Mountains where you can take a sky tram across the gap and look through the glass floor to the forest floor hundreds of metres below! There was also an amazing waterfall that cascaded down the whole cliff face that we just couldn't get a picture of that would truly showcase it's magnificence. But we did get a nice pic in front of a smaller section of the fall that we came upon as we strolled the forest on the other side of the cable car. After taking the sky tram back to the original side, we took a railway car down to the floor of the forest. This railway car is the steepest railway ever built. It was used to transport the coal miners down to the mine, and later became a tourist attraction. It is still in operation and you wonder how safe it really is! lol. But it was so much fun! We flew down the cliff in this railway car and then spent about 2 hours wondering around the forest exploring. The whole thing had great pathways and the different trees were well labeled, so we learned alot. There was a good display for the mining activity too.
We went back up the cliff in a cable car. They definitely made it an awesome family attraction.

One of the main sights that they promote is the Three Sisters. It is a cool rock formation that looks like three girls. There is a folklore about it that three sisters met three warriors from another tribe and wanted to marry them, but the witch doctor put a curse on them and turned them into stone. Before he could remove the curse, he was killed in a battle. I got a pic of our three sisters in front of the Three Sisters.

We have seen lots and lots of cockatoos and parakeets. They're everywhere! It is so awesome especially for a bunch of Canadians who are used to seeing sparrows! That's Kevin holding the parakeet. They were even hanging around on the cafe tables outside.
