Thursday in AUS

After a harrowing ride down a very narrow road bordered on one side by a cliff face and the other side by the cliff, we made it to Jenolan Caves. (buses go up and down that road too! the one bus driver, when I asked him how they do it, said he has air brakes. So if he is air borne, he uses them. lol. I'm sure his passengers love that joke)

Anyway, on to the caves. They were indescribable! Under this unassuming mountain covered in tropical forest were more caves than the explorers have been able to discover! We went through one self-guided cave and then three caves with a guide. The Orient Cave, the Imperial and Diamond Caves. Each cave has completely different rock formations. Lots of stalagtites and stalagmites and hecotites (sorry if I've spelt or named them wrong!) Again, pictures can hardly show what our eyes could take in. The human planners of the caves did a great job of using lighting to display different formations. There were millions of stairs in all the caves. Great exercise! We loved every minute of our day exploring the caves and seeing what God had created that has been hidden for so long!

On the way back to our house, we were on the lookout once again for wildlife (I should qualify here, LIVE wildlife. We had already seen roadkill kangaroo, wombat and possum. We wanted something LIVE!) On the side of the road Bruce noticed something! Kevin turned the van around and there in a pullout was a LIVE wallaby!!!! We were so incredibly excited! Perfect tourists! We all piled out of the van and started taking a million of those night time pictures that really don't turn out, but you're so excited it's all you can do! By the time we left the wallaby was so close to us, but we didn't touch him because we were too nervous! lol Gotta love being a tourist!
