Canada Day in New Zealand

So we brought our big Canada flag to church to ensure that the Canadians were well represented on Canada Day! Although I guess if you think about it....even though we are way over here and we are celebrating Canada Day on July 1st we should be doing it on the real Canada Day which would be Monday in NZ cuz that would be the right day in Canada....oh well...whatever.....
So here are Danae and Jason trying to sing O Canada during their morning practice! haha....the drummer is Philipino, so he totally had the wrong beat going. The other two singers are from South Africa, so they weren't singing any of the right words. The electric guitarist is New Zealand Maori and I just think he gave up and went to tune his guitar....haha...it was fun!
After church we had a church family shared lunch which was great. Then Paige had a job interview at the Teddy Bear Factory which is like Build A Bear. She's very excited! She goes in on Thursday for a 'trial day'. I hope these guys pay her for that. She did it once before for a jean store and never heard from them again, and they didn't even pay her. I was a bit appalled! Oh well, this job looks way more promising as her old PE teacher is best friends with the owner/manager and recommended Paige for the job.
In the evening we went over to Kelly and Jenn's place in downtown Auckland. We had a wonderful time together with all of our Canadian friends! Jason and Chelsey, Kelly and Jenn and their son Mateo, and Matt and Sharilyn and their children, Thomas, Ella and Katrina. They are the couple from Kelowna who are pastoring another Alliance church on the other side of the city. Once K&J and J&C leave in two weeks, it's just us left here so we'll have to stick together! We have been so incredibly blessed to have had these couples here with us during this transition time. God is good and we are so thankful for His grace and provision. It has been exceptionally helpful for our girls, and as any parent knows...when the kids are happy, the parents are happy!

Happy Canada Day!

yah, like Matt said to the girls, when we're in Canada we could really care less about Canada Day, but when you live in a different country, you all of the sudden feel very patriotic! go figure...

I remember some good Canada Day stuff in Peachland like parades and beach fun. We didn't go to fireworks in GP because it was sooooo windy we figured if they set them off in GP they wouldn't explode until about Bezanson!!Besides we had company from Peachland of all places-Harold and Kay Dirks.
