I have been wanting to post a New Year's blog for a few days now, but the time has alluded me!
In my daytimer this week is the quote:
"To all that has been, thank you. To all that is to come, yes."
Wow, what true words! This has been a remarkable year for me personally and for our family.
Some of the highlights have been:
February - a wonderful trip to Mexico with my mom and dad and brother.
April - we were able to have Kevin's Uncle Neill spend a week with us, which was such a blessing. He passed away a month later.
June - Kevin resigned from PCC after 14 years of amazing ministry. What an emotional spring we had. I think not a day went by that I didn't cry! I was grieving the end of a chapter in my life. But we made it through.
July - we as a family spent three incredible weeks in the UK. We toured Northern Ireland, Dublin and London. It was just awesome!
August - Kevin went to Auckland to check out the situation there before accepting a job offer. The girls all spent a great month at camp.
October - we were able to spend time with Kevin's sister and her children in Calgary. What a blessing it was to get to know them a bit!
November - I quit my job of 5 years at Edward Jones, we sold our house and moved out at the end of November in absolutely horrible weather!
December - we were able to visit all of our family on a whirlwind farewell tour! The last week of December we had a blast in Disneyland with my family.
...and during the whole year Kevin and I both lost just about 40 pounds each! We feel great! Kevin is still working on the next 40 and I am working to maintain my new weight.
....and now here we are just a few days from leaving Canada and starting a new chapter in New Zealand. We are very excited! The thing I am most looking forward to is getting on that first plane and knowing that all of the extremely hard, tiring, emotional, physical preparations are done and now we are off! No more good-byes for a while......just hellos. Those good-byes are sure emotionally draining! But we do know that they are not truly good-byes, but see you laters! Whether here or in heaven.... how sweet!
Well, time for another farewell party tonight. This one MacKenzie has planned for all of her friends! This past week Danae and Paige's friends surprised them at a local restaurant with a farewell party. Sunday we have a 'sending off' service at the church and then we are hosting an open house in the afternoon to say farewell.
I will post more faithfully once we are settled in NZ as I have really missed my regular blogging!
