I have been very delinquent in my blogging....tsk tsk. And it's not like there's nothing to blog about, either! Our life has been full, fun, busy, crazy.
We moved out of our house on November 30 in the midst of a freak snowstorm and super cold record breaking temperatures! Some of our stuff went in my hubby's dad's truck and trailer headed for northern Alberta and some of our stuff was crammed, jammed, squeezed into a half dozen boxes and 3 trunks for the journey over the ocean to New Zealand and some of our stuff was packed into suitcases to live out of for the next 6 weeks and some of our stuff was donated to my brother and sister-in-law's basement suite for us to use and then for them to use once we move.
All of that stuff sorting sure makes one stop and reflect. It took 7 months to sort through 18 years worth of married/family stuff. By the time we were done, we were so sick of our stuff and stuff in general, that it made me very cynical when it came time for Christmas shopping! We all have way too much stuff! I could go on and on about the little lessons I learned through this sorting stage, but I won't because there are other things I want to blog about too.
So we went up north and had a wonderful time visiting family and friends. I will include a few pics.
A trip to McDonald's with my parents....their favorite place! Paige had to crawl through the ball pit for memory's sake.
The kids sliding off the quanset roof, which Dad, Cam and Kevin spent hours shovelling off. The kids had fun... the men worked!
Kevin had the honor of dedicating his nephew Silas, at Chris and Jeamie's church the Sunday we were there. It was a great family experience! And we loved being able to get to know our youngest nieces and nephews.
So after that whirlwind farewell tour .... 35 hours of driving in 10 days.... we settled into Bruce and Niki's cozy basement suite and Danae and Paige worked like crazy to finish up the grade 11 subjects they have so that everything could be handed in and complete before the Christmas break. They accomplished this daunting task and came out with great marks! MacKenzie received her report card for the first term and also received awesome marks. We are so proud of her especially, for her efforts, because with our move, she actually has to start Grade 9 all over again, so her efforts this term was purely a show of her character and determination to do well even when it doesn't count for anything!
Tomorrow we're off to Disneyland for a week of fun, laughter, screaming, fighting crazy crowds and hanging out with my family. It's going to be awesome and we are ready for it!
Then we're back here for 8 days before we move to NZ on January 9th. We are so excited for this new chapter in our lives.
