my stories....

I've had a couple of pretty cool stories that I have been wanting to blog about this week, but just haven't had a chance until this evening (and I really should be doing some type of packing activity, but there's still lots of time for that!)

Story #1: The Plant
I have a beautiful fig tree that I grew from a few slips that I received when I helped a friend trim her fig tree. I rooted and planted this tree the year we built this house. As time passed I wove the branches to make a tree trunk with a bushy top. Well, when we decided to move, my one dilemna was what to do with my plants....they have become quite sentimental - I've had some for close to 20 years! I have found homes for all of my plants except this one special fig tree.

After we sold our house, the new owner and her teenaged daughter came by to meet us. I told Kevin that if I 'liked' this lady and felt good about her (I hope that makes sense to my readers!) then I would ask her if she'd like to keep my tree in this house. Well, as we visited, yes, I liked her and we really hit it off! So I asked her if she would like to have this tree. Well, her daughter gave a little yelp of joy and hugged her mom and exclaimed, 'That's just like the tree we used to have that our aunty killed when we were away!' (I guess it lost it's leaves and the aunt put it outside in -20C and the whole plant died).

So that was a pretty cool story and a confirmation that my plant would have a new good owner who cares about it! God even looks after the details about who gets my plants!

Story #2: The Calendar
Last Christmas when my mom and dad gave me my tickets to join them in Mexico in February, the tickets came with a calendar from the travel agency. Well, I put that calendar up in my office and have been enjoying looking at all the pictures of places around the world. It has been most bizarre though! In winter when we went to Puerto Vallarta, there was a pic of PV. In summer when we went to Ireland, there was a pic of Dublin. And you guessed it, this month there is a picture of a beautiful cove in New Zealand! Yes, it's pretty sweet!

So those are my two cool stories of this week.

Another very exciting thing happened today! I went to the Dr. to get my blood pressure medication prescription refilled. When he realized how much weight I've lost (38lbs!) he decided to take me off my meds and see if my BP has come down. So in 2 weeks I go back to see how it's doing. Cool, eh!? It would be awesome to go to NZ med-free! (I tried to put in a before and after pic, but it's not working....)

One last thing before I head off to the drudgery of housework. We've found a place to live in NZ!!!! A man, Ian, in our new church owns a home that is coming available to rent in January! There goes God again, just taking care of things before we even get a chance to ask! Ian has sent us pics, which I will include here of the house. It looks nice and clean with a beautiful yard. The most awesome thing is that it is only a five minute walk from the school we had hoped to put our girls in! The school is across the road from a shopping plaza and just a bit further down the road is where our church meets! The other way from the house is a beautiful park, Pigeon Mountain, and just a couple streets over is ...... WATER!!!!!! There is a river that comes from the ocean... the Tamaki River. I can walk along the water!!!! God is sooooo amazingly cool! Over the past year since we've been seriously thinking about moving, I have often walked along Okanagan Lake and wondered if I'd be able to have such a beautiful place to walk in the next place we live....and wah-lah! I will! Thank you, God!!!! I'm awed by your blessings.

Well, I have now blogged my stories, so now I must go do housework....

Very COOL! Some great evidence of God's goodness and tender mercies...good to have them written down for times when you feel lonely or are having difficulties with transition.
