gaming

Can moms ever become good at gaming? That is the million dollar question of the day!

Last year we received a game cube for Christmas. Our family loves this gift! Kevin and the girls play faithfully together, as 4 people can play at one time. Every once in a while I get a chance to be one of the four and frankly, I am pathetic! 95% of the time I am in last or 8th place. Only on a rare occassion do I place 6th or 7th.

A couple of Christmases ago, the kids in our life group thought it would be funny to watch the moms play a game together. So we did...or we tried. It was hilarious! None of us were any good at it. Which leads me to my deep, profound question of the day. Can moms ever become good at gaming? Or is there a missing game gene in moms?

Kevin says if I practice alot I will at least be able to keep my little car in the centre of the road. Haha. I find that hard to believe as I bounce off both sides of the road, get eaten by whatever eats you, or tossed off bridges, cliffs or whatever there is to be tossed off. The kids have fun trash-talking me. It's great entertainment! Yesterday, Danae even played using her mouth, and beat me and Kevin went backwards for half a lap and still beat me! How pathetic!

I guess I need to let all the housework & meals take care of themselves and just spend all my time gaming. Yah, that's it! :-) Watch out kids, I'm going to place 1st yet!

I hear you! I can't beat my boys at Gamecube either, although I can usually beat Abby. She's only 7 though, so I have to let her win sometimes.

With much labor I managed to master both Mario 1 & 2 but the problem was it took me at least 10 times as long as the kids. We're not stupid just uninterested!!

Very good question! I have yet to meet a mom who is good at gaming. The truth be told (and I am not ashamed to proclaim it). MOMS KNOW THEY HAVE MORE IMPORTANT THINGS TO DO THAN PLAY GAME CUBE. My competitive nature has caused me to sit beside my 5 year old son and insist we play until I win. However, I soon get distracted thinking about how much of a waste of time this is and how I am probably never going to win anyway. When I was a teenager, I sat for HOURS in front of Atari and Coleco vision games and became quite good at it. (My brother was always better however so maybe there is some gender related gene involvement here) I believe that it was probably a minute after childbirth that I lost the gaming instinct. When all is said and done, I would rather be a mom than a good gamer!
