Christmas is near

Well, this weekend begins our Christmas activities around here. Friday night is our town's light up which is a big outdoor event downtown. My office is right across the street from the light up, so we are hosting an open house during the light up. It's always a fun time to visit with people who are strolling downtown.

Sunday our family is hosting our church family at our home for a Christmas open house which runs from after church until the last person leaves or we all fall asleep on the couch...whichever comes first! I have asked some people to make soup and buns for whoever is around at lunch/supper. Others are bringing baking and snacks for the afternoon/evening crowd. Hopefully we have a good turnout. Some years we have a lot of people and some years only a few. I love when we have a lot. You have to go to just as much work to prepare for a few as for many, so may as well fill up the house!

So needless to say the Christmas decorating is underway. I find it very hard to get motivated when it is so dark by 4pm and cloudy all day. Kevin has been most helpful this year and even went out and cut a truckful of boughs for my outside railings. (which he even came outside with me in the dark cold evening to put up!) Things are coming together. Tonight I wrapped the kids' doors as is our yearly tradition...so now things are looking a little Christmasy!

Danae & Paige's doors

MacKenzie's door

The finishing touch.
