downsizing

I have been working my way through Paige's room this week. Gutting it completely, repainting it two funky colors that she picked out, and reassembling it MINUS most of her STUFF!!! She is a packrat and a collector....she also hasn't really changed t-shirt size since age 8, so she has more t-shirts than the rest of our family put together! She also loves to read, so she has piles of Hardy Boy, Nancy Drew, Trixie Belden, and a huge assortment of other books everywhere! I actually enjoy this process....I know that's a bit wierd....but I love making order out of chaos.

Anyway, when I was reading through my selection of blogs this morning, I came across one that had a few good comments and a link to a great article. If the blogger has written more, then the post I am referring to is entitled, 'Downsize Me'. It has a funny cartoon in it. The article is by Gordon MacDonald on Leadership Journal.net.

I have some downsizing to do around here--hopefully I can pawn off a few things to Nyah. We have kids stuff of all ages since we have kids of all ages! Rick is really anxious to move some toys out, but we still have a seven year old--so that's not going to happen.

Regarding the link to Kutless "Strong Tower":
Dallas really likes this song and found the guitar tabs on the internet so he can learn to play it. He sounds pretty good already.

Hey, what's wrong with chaos? I still know where everything is even if no one else does.

"Kaos in Greek or chaos in Latin comes to mean: 'a vast gulf or chasm, the nether abyss, empty space, the first sate of the universe, the 'formless void' of primordial matter, the abyss out of which the cosmos or order of the universe was evolved [created!].'? God formed the world ex nihilo--out of nothing--out of kaos. I thought I'd add this definition because we tend to think of chaos as disorder or messiness, but I think the other meanings get lost...empty, meaningless, formless void...

"empty, formless void"....nope, those are definitely not words that describe Paige's cluttered, full room at least before I got ahold of it! It looks SOOOOOO good now! Hope she likes it!

I like my messy definition better.
