During the time we weren't in the kitchen, Kenz perfected her rock climbing skills. She made it to the top a few times and was very happy! Kevin was 'belaying' her.

I discovered a very bizarre website yesterday. You can check it out here . It got me to thinking about many things: What leads someone to collect that much stuff? What do I feel the need to collect that I really don't need to? Where can I find that many Xerox boxes? How many valuable items does she have in that house that noone gets to enjoy? How did she ever afford all that stuff? I wonder where she lives? Could I make a career out of finding homes like that and sorting through their stuff for them? How would you even begin to sort through all of that? About a month ago an elderly, well known man in Kelowna went missing. He was an eccentric sort, who would dress up for parades and such. Well, posters were put up, news bulletins were issued. Where was this man? People had 'tried' to look in his apartment but couldn't get in because of all the clutter. Today's challenge is to list three things about myself that I am grateful for. Why is it always harder to write the personal things? hm.... I'm usually up for a challenge. Going back to teaching after 20 years and immigrating our whole family to another country would probably be the biggest ones. I'm grateful for my courage. I really like having people in our home and meeting new people. I'm grateful for my gift of hospitality. My faith in God and my relationship with Jesus is the DNA in which everything in my life is rooted. I'm grateful for my faith.

Bacon & the Beach: Dealing with Disappointments

We had a fantastic Christmas! However, a few things happened that were quite disappointing and gave cause to reflect on how do I deal with disappointments in life. Christmas Eve we all gathered at our landlord's house. We enjoyed the evening with many new friends! Our friends from Calgary were bringing gifts from family back home, and unfortunately the bottle of Oscar de la Renta that was for me, was stolen from their suitcase sometime in transit. Aw, I was sad. I was so excited to receive this gift! Later that evening as we were getting out of our van after arriving back home, the second thing happened. Another friend from here had given me a bowl when we first met, and that bowl was exactly like a bowl I had left behind in Canada. It wasn't expensive, or of any great financial value, it was just a bit sentimental as it was a gift from a new friend and it happened to be exactly like something I'd left back home.
