Today Kevin is taking a trip to the bank to make a deposit in the teenage daughter relationship account! In keeping with our yearly tradition which began in Grade 1, Kevin is picking up Paige and Danae and 5 of their mutual friends and taking them for a pizza picnic down by the lake. Tomorrow he will do the same with MacKenzie and 3 of her friends. The girls all look forward to this event and so do their friends. Such a simple act goes a long way in building into the lives of our daughters and their friends. And Kevin has so much fun with all these girls! He bugs them, sings old songs (the current favorite is 'Have a Little Talk With Jesus' sung with a deep southern gospel accent), and says bizarre things like only Kevin can, and shows an interest in their lives. He is demonstrating a father's love, a pastor's love, and Christ's love to these girls and they lap it up. Of the 8 kids that will go with our girls, only 1 comes from a Christian home and 4 come from broken homes. It doesn't take much to show kids you care and we try to take advantage of whatever chances we have to encourage the teenagers God has put in our path...and besides we all have a lot of fun!
