Time off for good behaviour

Well, Kevin, Chris and Uncle Neill's awesome daily blogs have inspired me with their writing to try writing a little more in addition to the photos that I post on my blog. So here it goes.....
Today is 'time off for good behaviour' for our kids. This afternoon Kevin is taking them out of school to head into Kelowna to farewell the Rockets on their quest for the Memorial Cup championship in Ontario. This evening he will awaken them from their slumber to take them to the premiere showing of Star Wars at 12:01 am in Westbank. They will then get to sleep in and miss their first class of the school day on Thursday. Why do we do these crazy things with our kids, instead of insisting they spend every required moment in school? Well, we like to surprise them with the occassional extra special activity as a way of supporting and encouraging their wise choices and actions.
They are three amazing young ladies. They work hard in school, they have chosen awesome friends, they prioritize their activities, they respect authority, they are responsible, they love God, and His church (they don't like to miss a Sunday, youth group or our family life group if at all possible). All this I say as 'right now' and by the grace of God. We fully understand that things can change, but for now and prayerfully for their lifetimes, they're doing great!
Our kids are learning the concept that obedience makes life better. Obey and respect your parents, teachers, and others in authority over you and things will go a lot smoother. It is just like all of us in our daily lives. If we obey what God has laid out for us in the Bible, our lives go a lot smoother too. The Ten Commandments are a perfect example, as well as living exercising the Fruit of the Spirit. Following God's plan with the strength and guidance of the Holy Spirit will lead to great things!
