Long Weekends....

I sure enjoy long weekends. Just to have that extra day at home with my family is so awesome! Saturday and Sunday Paige was in a 4 on 4 soccer tournament in Westbank. There were only 4 teams entered in her age group. Two of the teams were Select - a.k.a. very good! The other two teams were made up of players from her regular soccer team. Well, needless to say our two teams got anihilated! The one select team even stopped scoring, and just played keep-away. It was quite lop-sided! I was so proud of Paige, though. She had such a great attitude and worked to keep her team's morale up. When they did score, her and her friend would 'fly' around the field cheering. Before the games would start, she would give her team a very humorous inspirational talk and then line them all up and sign O' Canada. At least they were having fun!

Saturday evening Kevin performed a wedding for a couple from our church. It was awesome. It was a Jewish, Christian, Native Indian ceremony. The guests ranged from Muslim to JW's to Christian. A bit of a multi-nation event. And of course, everyone loved Kevin's officiating. He has such an amazing way with people whether it be celebrating a marriage or celebrating a life that is no more...which he will be doing this afternoon. A well-known man in town passed away last week. He was only 44 and he died 4 months after being diagnosed with brain cancer. It has been very sad. He has a daughter whose grad was just this last Friday (3 days after her dad died, and 4 days before his memorial service) We have sure been praying for the family! Brad was the town worker who was responsible for making Peachland such a beautiful town. I would often see him outside my office and have a little visit. He was a great guy. Even this morning when I came to work, his truck and work trailer were parked outside my office (the new employee uses them now) and it was very sad. He will be greatly missed. They are expecting about 800 people for his funeral. Kevin will get to share Jesus' love with a very large portion of our community. He thrives on that and he has been so gifted by God to speak and minister to people. I love to see it happen and to be his prayer support and encourager. (and iron his shirts :-)
