...degrees Celsius! (50F) That is what the temperature is INSIDE our house this morning! These Kiwis are crazy! No central heat, no insulated walls, no double pane windows, drafty doors....brrrr....I'm surprised I can even type! lol The water on my bedside table feels like it just came out of the fridge!

It's so cold it's actually funny. It's like camping in the Canadian Rockies, but you have a roof over your head. The best thing is the electric blankets....mmmm....warm.....

Vicki M was right when she warned me about the NZ houses. My previous boss wasn't crazy when he told me this is how they lived in the UK and then brought those habits to the Okanagan in winter.....

The one good thing about it being this cold is that I read somewhere that if you keep your house cold it helps you lose weight cuz your body has to work so hard to keep warm.... that's good. At this rate we should all be very skinny! lol

Now I think I'll go have a cup of HOT coffee and then try to lure my children out of their warm beds....

p.s. I should mention, though, that even though it is the middle of winter, the other day it was 25C during the day! I guess that kinda makes up for freezing in the mornings!

no, but you'd think Kevin would as he doesn't have much covering his head!

Hi Cheryl, during the peak of winter, the temperature inside my in-law's house in Japan would be near Z-E-R-O. Japanese houses are built for their sticky summers so they bear the cold winters!!

In my own house in Nagano, we spend lots for the heaters and it's very difficult to move inside the house to clean, do normal stuff as it is dead cold. Glass panes would freeze and curtains stick to the windows because of the frost. Sometimes, the door is even hard to open because it froze!!

Despite that, I am not skinny!

Seriously, I don't think Japan is as cold as Canada but the houses are certainly not build to sustain the cold. I wish to sit on a fireplace someday.
It's the same here in South Africa. We have no central heating but it easily goes under 5 degrees in the house. Thankfully that's not often and winter is short lol
