The end of a busy week.
Kevin spent last week at the Firefighters Chaplaincy convention. He had a very intensive training time, and came home Thursday exhausted! I spent the week driving kids everywhere and that was even without the regular school activities! Had school been in session, Paige would have had daily field hockey practices or games. Thank the Lord for a hubby who can help drive. I was glad to see him come home to take some turns driving kids places.
The girls have kept themselves busy in spite of no school. It has actually been a nice break. We have friends whose kids are in year-round schooling in Nevada, and there might be some merit to it.
Thursday, Danae's friend, Royce, came to visit for the weekend. She met him at camp this summer and they have developed a very good friendship. (msn was invented for long distance friendships! :-) We really enjoyed his time here with us. He is a very kind, respectful young man, who all you grandparents don't need to worry about! :-) Danae has chosen very wisely for her first boyfriend and if the other young men who befriend our daughters are as great, we will hopefully get three daughters through the dating phase and still be sane! We appreciate the continued prayers of those who love our daughters and pray for their friends, boyfriends and future spouses. (thank you, by the way - please keep praying!)
MacKenzie spent the weekend at the Alliance Junior High Youth Conference in Kelowna. She had a wonderful time and is also completely exhausted! She says that every bone in her body aches...between riding on Friday morning, jumping up and down during worship at the conference, playing the games, sleeping on the floor, etc. Her and the kids from our church made a commitment to not watch TV for 10 days and possibly longer. The theme was Junk. She shared at church that what she learned is that God doesn't make junk, but we do junk.
Paige hung out with her friend, Janelle, as well as played endless games of Mario Kart with Danae and Royce. We took them all to a movie on Friday and also went to Vernon Alliance Church on Saturday, where they have many friends from camp that they got to see. She is also practicing for a play that will be performed for Christmas in our community, Jack and the Multi-Colored Beanstalk. She is the villain. Kenz is her sidekick (who says, "I don't very much like that role")
The weekend ended with me driving home from church, turning off Princeton to go up Somerset. When I gave it the extra kick to get up that hill, I heard a very loud clunk and that was it for any future driving of our van for the time being! Ugh...we are pretty sure it is the transmission. We just fixed that a couple of years ago...so we will have to wait and see how much damage we can do to our visa this week. sigh....
But as Kevin has taken to signing off his blogs, God is good all the time! All the time, God is good!
